Search seems to scramble Notes
Dear 1Password Helpers,
Well this is a strange one. It has happened 4 times.
I do a search in the 1Password searchbar. Let's say it returns 2 Login items.
I click on, and highlight, the first (top) Login.
Here's the rub: The Notes for that Login aren't for that Login — they're for a DIFFERENT Login.
In one case, the notes were for the second of the two returned Logins.
In another case, they were for a Login not included in the search.
First time it happened, I just went, "Huh? Am I seeing what I'm seeing?"
Second, third and fourth times I got screenshots.
I have replicated the bug. When I do a search on "Chew," it returns the Login for Chewy.com. But the notes are for IRS.gov. This has happened twice.
However, when I navigate to the actual Chewy.com Login, the notes are correct. So, that's a simple workaround. However, misbehavior of the Notes in a Search is real — at least for me.
If it would help, I can send along the screenshots.
Your friend from Boston,
-Mark

Hey Mark, markbot
I'd suggest talking with my colleagues in email support. Off-hand it sounds like a display issue. I would recommend checking for updates when possible and see if that helps. 8.10.36 is available. I'm not 100% sure this (below) is the specific issue. That said, it seems to be what you described.
If you wish to email the team please use.
support+forum@1password.com
We've fixed an issue where the notes field was always shown when searching, even if it was unrelated to the search.

Thank you, ag_tommy.
I updated to 8.10.36 but the problem remains.
I'll send an email as you suggested.
In general, what's the difference between using this forum and using email?

I've noticed this bug several times over the past weeks. I can reproduce it almost every time on 1Password for Mac 8.10.36 by following these steps:
- Open 1Password
- Select a vault and a login item in that vault that has notes
- Quit 1Password (command-Q)
- Open 1Password (it should still show the same login item in step 2)
- Search for a different login item that has different notes and hit enter to select it
- Observe that the notes from step 2's login item are still displayed, alongside title/website belonging to the different login item selected in step 5
It doesn't happen every time... timing related? It seems like I have to hit enter quickly in step 5 for it to happen. Unsure. But it's still quite easy to reproduce. I'm using Sonoma 14.5 on a M2 MacBook Pro.
In both the login items involved here, I've set username, password, website, notes, and tags. The login items happen to belong in different vaults... unsure if that's necessary to reproduce.

Thank you for the report. Our developers have coded a fix for the issue and are testing that fix in the latest beta version of 1Password for Mac:
We’ve fixed an issue where you’d see unrelated notes when you opened an item from a search result.
Until the fix makes it to the stable version, I haven't been able to reproduce the issue when using a collection so that can provide a workaround for now if you wish to avoid the issue: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
Let me know if you have any questions and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm sorry that you're seeing the wrong notes with the wrong item. Can you tell me that specific version of 1Password for Mac that you're using? You can find out by following these steps:
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Click on 1Password next to the in the menu bar.
- Click About 1Password.
when selecting a login account and see the notes then go to another login the previous login notes are with the current login selections.
Are you able to send me steps that I can follow to reproduce the issue on my end? For example, are you searching for an item and then clicking on a search result? Are you able to reliably reproduce the issue or is it random?

using: 1Password for Mac 8.10.36
steps: im looking at my open 1password on my mac so the ap is open. i see all the results for all the items in 1password. 1. select an item (example restaurant login and see the notes for this login 2. i then select another login such as a library login. 3 i see the notes in step 2 are the notes for step one. 4. i then repeat steps 1-3 and sometimes the notes now correspond correctly to each log or sometimes they dont so have to sometimes select other logins then go back to the original log in i want and make sure the notes are correct and do this a few times till the notes are correct. happens occasionally but enough to almost make new new notes within the incorrect login. make sense? all the other info for each log in is correct like the user, 1time password, password, website.
