Support for immutable linux (Bazzite, etc)

1password is rough to use on immutable fedora (Bazzite, Aurora, etc), since flatpak doesn't let 1password communicate with browser, use SSH, or fingerprint scanner.

I'm not fully sure what solution would be since AppImage is depreciated. Maybe flatpak permissions config that would let 1password talk to browser?

  • Lo there, making the jump to an immutable OS (Bazzite). I also would like more of a native integration with not only shell/cli interaction but also the fingerprint reader.

Agree, would like to see this. Other password safes manage it to some degree or another.

It's frustrating that 1password completely blocks native messaging and ssh agent integration if it detects it's in a sandbox, because it means even if you poke the necessary holes in the sandbox, it still won't work. At the very least it would give me an option to have the app stop doing that.

I'm using 1Password on Bluefin. I layered it using rpm-ostree. This is not ideal. But almost everything works:

      • fingerprint reader
      • web browser integration
      • ssh agent

However, the "File Selection" dialog doesn't work. This means:

      • You cannot add an attachment to an item using the File Selection dialog
      • You cannot export a backup of your vault
      • You cannot use 1Password Environments. The file selection dialog doesn't work so 1Password doesn't know where to mount the .env file
