Tuta and the new auto-login feature behave incorrectly

1Password will now automatically sign you in when you choose a Login item to fill. You can manage this feature in Settings > “Autofill & save.”

To prevent the password from being displayed in clear text, you must change the behavior here:

NOTE: Also, MFA code triggers registration window instead of login.

      Hi ugafta

Thanks for following up to let us know that you're running into the same issues again. I've taken a look at the Tuta login page and while the "Log in" button appears to be selected when "Sign in automatically after autofill" is turned on in the 1Password extension's Autofill & save settings, it looks like the "Switch color theme" is popping up in the process.

Can you confirm if this is the same behaviour you're encountering now?

        Hi 1P_David,

Thanks for checking. It’s not the theme switcher on my side.

With “Sign in automatically after autofill” enabled, 1Password clicks the registration button on the German Tuta page instead of the Log in button, which drops me into the registration flow.

Thanks for sharing that URL! I experienced the same behaviour when the "Sign in automatically after autofill" option is toggled on in the 1Password extension's settings under Autofill & save. I've reported this to our development team for further investigation and I apologize for any inconvenience. While I'm unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix, once there is one, it will be listed in our https://releases.1password.com/b5x/.

As a workaround in the meantime, you can disable the auto-submit feature in the 1Password extension's settings using the following steps:

    1. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar, then select "Settings".
    2. Click Autofill & save in the side panel.
    3. Toggle off the "Sign in automatically after autofill" setting.

If you'd prefer to continue using the auto-submit feature, then I'd suggest using the https://support.1password.com/getting-started-browser/#use-drag-and-drop-to-fill-in-apps method or copy and paste to fill your credentials on this page.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else!

  • Hey ugafta,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know 1Password is not working as expected on this page.

Can you send over a link to the site so we can take a look and file an issue with our development team?

    Thanks!
