That's quite a big topic :)
Looking at it from the top level, a browser is the most hostile environment on your computer, so the (really) short answer is that using the native apps is more secure than using extensions.However, we're doing everything we can (and more) to make sure your data is safe and secure in both the native apps and the extension.
