5 years agoUsing excessive CPU.
First of all, AWESOME! I love 1Password, and am loving 1Password8 so far!!!
So I have it on my iMac and noticed that after a day or so both the 1Password app process and the 1Password Safari browser extension are using 17% CPU (which I figure is one core right, on my 6 core system).
Restarting both processes (force end in activity monitor) and letting the browser extension restart them fixes the problem.
Just an FYI. Loving it! Keep up the great work!!! :)

We have certainly seen a few reports about the CPU usage. Unfortunately, we are not able to recreate it internally yet. It would be a huge help if you are able to take the process sample when it happens next time 🙏

@FCNV:
Is https://1password.community/discussion/122894/delay-1password-8-release-at-least-6-months the post you are referring to?

I will be when you approve the post I submitted earlier today.

I'm glad you're happy. ❤️

"We're investigating some odd edge cases with performance" and "It's not happening to everyone" are very different things, so I'm happy you decided to backtrack that comment to be more honest. Nobody is saying it is happening to everybody, just that it is happening to a lot of people and they are reporting it. Concluding that it's not widespread because your limited (and biased) internal sampling is not scientific.

I didn't say it's not happening. I said it's not happening to everyone, which I know from observation and reports from our team. And if it's not happening to everyone on our team, it's probably not happening to everyone who's not on our team.
I'm not sure what your point is. We're looking into the issues because performance is a priority for us. We've been using this app ourselves for months, and if we had noticed the problems on our own machines we'd have fixed them earlier.

1P_Rob Kind of a logical fallacy to assume that which is unobserved or unmentioned is not happening.

@FCNV this is the first time I'm hearing about CPU usage that increases after a day or so and is fixed when restarting the app. Not sure if you've seen that report elsewhere, but I haven't, so it's not at all disingenuous.
The team is indeed looking into a variety of issues related to performance, but no, they don't happen to everyone. There are certainly plenty of reports, but no one jumps in to the forum to say "hey folks just wanted to let you know my CPU is fine".
