That's exactly right. As Peter mentioned above, only the extension in your browser is capable of filling into login fields in your web browser. The desktop app isn't able to, so for the best experience at the moment, the desktop app and the extension work together.

We'd recommend using both the desktop app, and the 1Password extension in your browser to allow for filling in your browser.
