What items can track expiry date ? or Date fields are always tracking expiry?

I want to track the expiry dates for annual subscriptions for software and products. Like in India Amazon prime, Netflix, and Spotify are paid annually. What item category should I use? Or if I use the date field, and its approaching the added date, will any item be listed in the "expiring soon" section?
I know credit cards, driving license, and passport item tracks expiry and informs expiring soon in watchtower.

  • Hi sameerchavan,

The additional "date" fields you can add while editing and item will not be identified as expiry dates by Watchtower. I think it would be a great idea to be able to add custom expiration dates though! I'll share this with the rest of the team as well. 🙂

In the meantime, you could edit one of the item categories that do support expiration dates by removing the fields you don't need and adding a custom icon. I'd recommend the passport item type for this since the date format is uses includes the day. Since these item types don't have username/email/password fields, I would still recommend keeping your existing login items for these products and linking the two: Link related items in 1Password

You would end up with something that looks like this:

Depending on how many items you'd like to do this for, it may end up being quite a process. If you're able and willing to set up subscriptions to auto-renew, I would also recommend linking those login items to the credit card used to pay for them. This way you'll only need to update them once that credit card is expiring.

Thanks for sharing your feedback about this, if you do try any of these workarounds let me know how they go!
