Why is the Chrome extension on Mac consuming extreme amounts of memory (10GB+)?

We had this Chrome extension installed on employee computers (over 20 of them, all Macs -- some with M1 and some with Intel chips), and we had to uninstall it about a month ago because of high memory...

Are the Mac up to date? The latest version of 1Password 7 is 7.9.4. I would also note that we launched 1Password 8 yesterday. You may wish to give it a try.

From the menubar, click 1Password 7 and then about 1Password.
