Will 1Password prompt users to upgrade or show that an update is available?

I'm wondering whether to tell family members that they should upgrade to 1Password version 8. Will 1Password prompt users to upgrade or show that an update is available? 1Password Version: 7.9...

Installing 1Password 8 should remove the 1Password 7 app from the device.

When I downloaded 1P 8 from the website and ran the installer, it didn't delete 1Password 7.app but instead zipped it and left it in Applications. (Handy in case you want to revert to 7.)
