A possible workaround you could try is to duplicate the op config directory and change the owner of the duplicate directory to root, then pass in the path of the new root-owned directory using the --config flag or the OP_CONFIG_DIR environment variable. We will make a note of your request and add to our internal ticketing system and let you know if we have any future updates.
