Password Generator used a character i do not recognize

Hi Everyone,

I used the Password Generator to create a new password for my 1Password account.  I then took a screen shot of the password and assumed id just type it in the next time and be on my way.  however, there is a character in the password that i cannot for the life of me figure out what it is?  i dont know why they would use such a random character or its just a font issue?  ive tried a "7" and a lower case "L", but im worried im going to get locked out of my account if i keep trying.

what is the character and what buttons do i push on the mac keyboard to find it?

desperate for help. thanks

  • Hi davidj, welcome to the Community!

Just as a quick heads up, I've cropped your image down to the singular character you're having trouble with, as it's not a good idea to post sections of your 1Password account password on a public forum.

To confirm - have you actually submitted this password change yet? And are you currently able to unlock 1Password on any of your devices?

The good news is that there's no lockout for incorrect login attempts, so you can try as many times as you'd like.

I've done some testing on my end, but I've not been able to identify this character yet, or generate a password with it in. To help us identify this character, could you let me know how you generated it? For example, did you use the password suggestion that the 1Password browser extension provides below the field, the generator in the desktop app, the generator on our website, or something else?

If you're able to sign in, changing your 1Password account password to something that's easier to type might be your best bet moving forwards - I'd recommend reading the following support article: How to choose a good 1Password account password

Looking forward to hearing from you!
