Step 5: Invite your team to 1Password
Now it’s time to bring your team onboard. A thoughtful rollout makes adoption easier and sets everyone up for success.
Announce the rollout
Start by letting your team know that 1Password is coming. We’ve prepared email templates you can use to share what 1Password is, why your company is adopting it, and what team members should expect.
Recall groups and access levels
1Password uses built-in groups to help keep your account secure and organized:
- Owners: full control, including billing, team deletion, and vault management.
- Administrators: manage team members, vaults, and account recovery (but not billing or deletion).
- Team Members: access the Shared vault and create their own, unless restricted.
- Security: view account activity and run security reports.
- Provision Managers: only appear if automatic user provisioning is enabled.
These groups give you the flexibility to organize access, but we recommend following the Principle of Least Privilege: grant people only the level of access they need to get their work done. This keeps your organization safe while making sure everyone has the tools they need.
