Key context

1Password is designed so that you and your users are the only people who ever have access to your account. That means not even us at 1Password can access it or recover it for you. There are no backdoors, or override codes, or any action we can take to access your account, which is key to keeping your data secure.

That’s why setting up a recovery plan early is essential. We recommend all account owners create an account recovery plan as soon as possible after setting up a new 1Password account. It’s a critical step because if you do ever get locked out of your account without a recovery plan, 1Password can’t regain access for you.
