Chrome extension not always using TouchID

I have the 1Password Chrome extension installed, and when I unlock my vault by clicking on the 1Password icon in the toolbar, it always prompts me for my password first. If I click the icon again to make the login window disappear, then click it again to make it reappear, it lets me log in using Touch ID. I always have to go through this multiple-click process to get the Touch ID prompt. I've tried both the standard 1Password Chrome plugin and the beta plugin, and I receive the same behavior from both. I've also tried restarting the browser and restarting my computer.

When I open the 1Password Mac app, it always prompts for Touch ID first (unless the 30-day window between password logins has lapsed). So, the problem seems isolated to the Chrome extension. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry that Touch ID doesn't always work to unlock 1Password in Chrome. As a first step, can you check that you have the 1Password desktop app (which handles biometric authentication) set to run in the background even if the main window is closed:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Make sure that "Keep 1Password in the menu bar" is turned on.

Let me know if that doesn't work or if the option was already on.
