How long after leaving a company do users have access to 1Password?
For example, when an employee leaves accompany that offered 1Password business and the user also set up a personal one password through the business account offer of adding family members to free 1Password.  How long will that user have to pay for a personal account before their account gets deleted?

Hi Simon and thanks for the great reply and details.
So how long will the frozen account last and what does it take to get it re-instated?

      Hi pwallace,

      Good questions!

Frozen accounts are retained indefinitely – it's up to the person if they want it deleted or not.

Unfreezing the account is just a matter of logging into the account in a web browser and adding a payment method so that the subscription is active again.

I recommend reading this article about the process of unlinking a family account from an employer, since there are two paths to do it:

      • If they have access to the business account, they can log in and unlink their family account right away, then add their own payment method.
      • If they no longer have access to the business account, the family account will be automatically unlinked a few days after the employer deactivates them. The 14 day free trial also starts when they are deactivated from the business account. 1Password will send them an email when the accounts are unlinked prompting them to add a payment method.

I hope that's clear! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi pwallace,

In a situation where a person leaves their employer, their family account then gets put on a 14 day free trial. If they want to keep the account beyond that free trial, they just need to add a payment method to the account.

After the 14 days, the account is not deleted, just frozen. If you want to delete the account, you can do so following these instructions. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
