Latest update has slowed right down

I updated to 1Password for Mac 8.10.78 (81078043) and it has slowed way down, taking 5+ seconds to load each field or section.

Everything was fine before this latest update.

Anyone else experiencing this as it is quite frustrating?

Do I also need to remove my data or just the application?

Yep, you'll want to also remove your data! This is just removing it from the local computer, so you won't actually lose any of your 1Password data.

    Hey there pmycroft,

Sorry 1Password isn't performing like it should!

We've seen some cases where users on Macs with Apple Silicon are inadvertently running the Intel version, causing a big performance hit. Are you on a computer with Apple Silicon, by chance?

This post has more information about that issue. A workaround that has been effective for some folks is simply reinstalling 1Password, if you want to give that a try, though we're also working on a fix to be incorporated into a future update.

      Hi Simon,

I am running Apple Silicon Apple M3 Pro on Sequoia 15.5.

How do I reinstall 1P? Do I just download it again and replace what is in there?

      Thanks.

        Hi again pmycroft,

That's basically it yes, but before proceeding, make sure that you have a copy of your Emergency Kit, that you know your account password, and that you're signed into 1Password on another device and see all of your items there. This is to make sure you don't get locked out during the process!

        1. Uninstall 1Password following the steps in the support guide linked below, make sure to also follow the steps under "To remove your 1Password data": 1Password - Remove the 1Password app and data.
          • Do not use a third-party "app cleaner" or "uninstaller" app to remove 1Password.
        2. Download and install a fresh copy of 1Password from our website: https://1password.com/downloads/mac/
        3. Add your account back to the 1Password app.

If you're feeling at all uncertain about this, don't hesitate to email support@1password.com and they can confirm whether you're running into the Intel/Apple Silicon issue and doing the reinstall.
