Amplified Browser Autofill Inconvenience during "Closed MacBook with External Monitor"

MacBook lid closed, external monitor, 1Password locked

  1. Browser to a password form
  2. Start autofill
  3. 1Password prompts you to login

4. Open your MacBook lid slightly, intending to use TouchID
5. It doesn't let you!

You have to cancel, but the dialog is now unclosable by keyboard

  • Can't use Escape key
  • Can't use COMMAND+Q
  • Can't use COMMAND+W


I must use the mouse or touchpad to cancel the dialog.  But sometimes my hands are close to the keyboards and the mouse is far away when I lean over to the MacBook to use TouchID. 

Now I have to either:

  1. open up the MacBook fully to use its touchpad;
  2. OR reach over back to my computer mouse that is not near the normally-closed MacBook


So 1Password adds lots of Auto Fill friction with this dialog, unlike the smarter "Open 1Password" route that automatically recognizes MacBook lid open/close events.
