1Password extension always opens in the wrong Vivaldi window (Windows 11)

Title: 1Password extension always opens in the wrong Vivaldi window (Windows 11)

Hey all,

I'm running into an annoying issue with the 1Password browser extension on Windows 11 (Vivaldi, latest stable).

When I click the 1Password icon or use the shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + X), the popup always shows up in the same Vivaldi window — even if I have a different one active. This happens every time, regardless of which window I'm actually working in.

Some more context:

  • The popup doesn't appear next to the extension icon — it shows up dead center in a different, inactive Vivaldi window.
  • It’s not draggable.
  • Inline suggestions still work, but the extension popup itself always anchors to the wrong window.
  • This happens no matter which monitor I’m on. It’s tied to a specific browser window, not display setup.

What I’ve tried:

  • Fully updated Vivaldi and 1Password extension.
  • Also tested with the Beta and Nightly versions of the extension.
  • Restarted, reinstalled, disabled all other extensions — no difference.
  • Tried changing Vivaldi’s “Use Native Window” setting — didn’t help.

This doesn’t happen in Chrome or Edge — only in Vivaldi. So I’m guessing it’s a focus/context issue between the extension and how Vivaldi handles windows.

Anyone else seeing this? Is there any workaround to force the popup to open in the currently active window?

Happy to help with reproduction steps or send logs if it helps.

Thanks.

  • Hello aaroncyber! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. We've received another report of this behaviour from another customer who was using Vivaldi and our developers took a look and believe that this is an issue in Vivaldi itself since browser's control the keyboard shortcut to open and close extensions and not browser extensions. Since Vivaldi isn't an officially supported browser, I recommend that you report the issue to Vivaldi so that they can take a look to see why the browser extension is working differently in Vivaldi then it is in other Chromium browsers.

That being said, I can't reproduce the issue using Vivaldi 7.3.3635.12 although the pop-up does open in the middle of the screen when using the keyboard shortcut. Updating to this version of Vivaldi might help, let me know if I can help further.
