1Password troubles with Vivaldi sidebar panels

I've been trying out Vivaldi Browser and found a few problems with the 1Password extension when combined with websites running in the small sidebar container that you can configure in Vivaldi.

I don't know if this is a problem with Vivaldi or 1Password, but I want to report it somewhere.

So basically, my setup is like this: In the Vivaldi Browser, you can configure any website to run in a little sidebar container, separate from the regular tab you're on. They expand and collapse as needed.

I added Fastmail in the sidebar in this manner, but the problems are the same with any webpage running inside a sidebar panel. The problems arise when I try to login using 1Password inside this panel.

  1. Assuming the extension is locked, unlocking it does not unlock it in the sidebar panel. I have to refresh the panel to make it recognize that the extension has been unlocked.
  2. When I click on the 1Password entry that pops up under the username/password textboxes (the one that is supposed to autofill the credentials), nothing happens. The password is not filled out. The workaround is copy/paste from the extension or dragging/dropping, which can be very annoying.

1Password Version: 8.10.36
Extension Version: 2.25.1
OS Version: Windows 10/11
Browser: Vivaldi

I SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!  Thanks to my (not hyping myself here too much :) ) previous experience trying to get bitwarden to work in a webpanel, all you have to do is click on the plus in the rounded-corner box in the webpanels section in Vivaldi, and paste this code into the proper spot:

    chrome-extension://aeblfdkhhhdcdjpifhhbdiojplfjncoa/popup/index.html

The gibberish jumble of letters above is the (got this off google) "application identifier for the 1Password browser extension".  You can double check me, don't have to take my word for it, just google search the above and use the string for Chrome (Windows & Linux).  :)

(This isn't a 1password issue, it's just that nobody knew how to get it to work; it's a pain in the rear)

Any more detail on how you got this to work? I have added 1password as a web panel with the plus button, and it loads there, but I still can't autofill inputs on other sites in other web panels...

Hello, honumael. Thank you for reaching out.

I tested the sidebar feature in Vivaldi and have been able to recreate the same issue. I reported the problem to our development team for further investigation. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Let me know if there's anything I can assist you with.

Update: I have just tested this in another browser that supports sidebar panels, Floorp, and the behavior is exactly the same there as well. It seems like it's a 1Password problem after all.
