1PW8 login does not unlock browser version extensions in Safari and Firefox

So, in 1PW7 when you would unlock the app, either in the browser or the main app on the Mac, it would unlock all versions residing on the computer, main app, browser extension and menu bar (top right corner). It no longer does that, you have to unlock each occurrence, that's not the way it is supposed to work.

1Password Version: 8.7.0
Extension Version: 2.3.3
OS Version: 12.3.1

ag_chantelle, I did upload the reports and was told to look at the "when 1pw doesn't work..." and tried the scripts there and nothing changed for me, so I removed version 8 and started over as in my comment above.

One thing I didn't do was remove the extensions from the browsers, but the 1pw version 8 Firefox extension works in concert with the version 7 desktop application. I ended up with two 1pw extensions in Safari, where one works and the other remains locked. I've requested support in a separate email, which once in the Safari extension list needs to be removed.

Well, I moved my 1pw application to the trash, emptied the trash, rebooted my Mac then went back to my 1pw online account and reinstalled the program for my Mac (get the app). It installed 1pw version 7.9.4 and everything works great now.

I'll wait until the 1pw team puts back functionality that we liked in version 7 into 8 then I'll upgrade. Hopefully by then they will have figured out how to get the extensions to talk to the desktop app regardless of the browser being used.

You're absolutely right, unlocking 1Password 8 should be unlocking all versions of 1Password in the browser. They should also respect the auto-lock settings you have defined in the 1Password for Mac app. If you're finding this is not the case, then we'll have to dig a little deeper to see what's causing communication between 1Password and your browser(s) to fail.

I realize this may seem like a softball step, but have you tried restarting your Mac? Often, immediately following installation, a restart will help with getting processes initialized in the right order (specifically the browser helper), to facilitate desktop app integration.

If you find that's not working, then I'd like us to grab some logs and diagnostics from your machine:

You can send the logs and diagnostics to us at support+x@1password.com and mention this community thread. Someone from our team will be happy to get things sorted for you.

It's also in Firefox. You should not have to log in twice on the same computer if the app is already running.

The icon in the menu bar no longer opens 1PW but gives a choice to quit, lock, open 1PW (desktop app) or quick access where you can search for your login. It used to work like regular 1PW and either provide access to the site you're on or autofill an open app.

None of these regular used functions are gone, I don't see a prettier GUI as an improvement when it doesn't work as it should. Features should not be thrown out that people use all the time.

How do I go back to version 7?

I agree the new Safari extention lacks the old functionality.
Settings in the main app allow you to set "never" for the app to lock.
There is no such setting in the Safari extension which means the extention keeps locking.

Here are some screenshots demonstrating the problem.
