2 factor code not working after downloading ios version 8

I just downloaded version 8 for iOS. I already have version 8 on my laptop and version 7.9.8 on my iPhone. I try to sign in to the new version. My password seems to be working okay, but then it asks for my 2factor code, which I usually just paste automatically, and that doesn't work. I tried opening version 7 and copied the 2 factor code, but still no success. "That code didn't work. Make sure it's for this account and it hasn't expired." What do I do now?
