Add 1Password extension for Opera & Sidekick browsers
I wish to add my voice to the many requesting native browser extensions for Opera & Sidekick.
I've added Opera & Sidekick as trusted browsers using 1Password Support's process described here.

Hello folks,
I'm happy to share that you can now add Opera as an additional browser to 1Password for Windows. Follow these steps:
- Install 1Password in Opera from the Chrome Web Store: 1Password – Password Manager
- Add Opera as an additional browser to 1Password: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app
A couple of notes:- Make sure that Opera is installed system-wide with admin permissions in the C:\Program Files folder.
- Opera is not an officially supported browser and you might run into unexpected issues.

Hi,
As one person who insisted to get this feature on Windows, I want to report that I installed 1Password 125.0.5729.21 (December 2025 release if I'm right) and that the ability to add other browsers works perfectly (I'm personally using Opera). I was impressed by the integration with sites requesting a password change and the automatic suggestion of a new password!
One minor complaint: it is only possible to add browsers installed in main Program folder. I had to reinstall Opera for all users rather than just for me to be able to select it. I probably missed something but I am not sure why such a restriction and what it really brings in terms of additional security. But it is not a showstopper for me and probably I could have installed Opera just for me changing the installation folder to C:\Program and 1Password would have been happy. The main drawback that I see to this restriction is that it makes automatic updates a bit more complicated (execute as administrator required, as my account has no administrator rights).

1 month agoThank you for sharing your experience with the new additional browsers feature for Windows! In this initial release, which was built specifically for Windows, supported browsers must be admin-installed in the Program Files directory. This requirement is in place for security reasons. However, our team is looking into expanding support to include code-signed browsers installed elsewhere, as well as refining the security checks this feature currently performs to ensure the right balance between safety and flexibility.
Thank you for the feedback!
