Autofill Suggestion is for a different website

Issue Description

With these settings:

  • autofill enabled
  • only 1Password enabled
  • website configure for “only for this exact domain” for both the domain in the address bar and for the erroneously suggested website

“autofill suggestion” in 1Password for ios suggests the wrong website credentials. I noted that the suggestion is for the same parent domain but different subdomain. It’s also the first website alphabetically for that subdomain

Example

Navigate to myapp2.int.mydomain and the credentials for “myapp1.int.mydomain” appear in the autofill suggestion field above the keyboard.

Pressing the key icon will open 1password, displaying the credentials for myapp2.int.mydomain .

So, only the autofill suggestion is incorrect.

My environment

  • ios 18.7.1
  • 1Password : 1Password for iOS 8.11.12 (81112027)
  • iphone 15 PM
  • Browser Firefox iOS 143.1.1

Workaround

Turn autofill off so that there is no auto suggestion.

The 1password key symbol will still be present above the keyboard on the right hand side. if you click it , it shows the correct credentials for the website.  That is what I did as a workaround.

I don’t know of this behavior is a bug with 1password or limitation of the autofill system on iOS, but I felt it was worth reporting.

  • Hello komrad! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! This is a limitation of iOS AutoFill which we've documented here:

If you use Autofill on an iOS device, settings you’ve chosen for specific hosts won’t be respected for login suggestions shown near the top of the keyboard or the bottom of the screen. To see the list of items with your autofill behaviors applied, tap the passwords key icon beside the login suggestion.

If you're open to trying Safari, then 1Password in Safari does respect your set autofill behaviour. Let me know if you have any questions.
