Automate backup / export

Hi,
I want to have the most important data always available somehow.
So let's assume, the worlds internet break up and I can't connect to any of your servers.

This is also concerning, if done by accident:

If you delete a vault in your 1Password account, this is permanent and deleted vaults cannot be restored.

I really need a local backup.
As I can see the only option is an unencrypted local export (1PUX)?

Is there any way to automate this? (preferrably in an encrypted form!)

Thanks

  • Hello kapsiR! 👋

Thanks for the questions! If you're using a 1Password account then backup of your items is handled by your 1Password account. If you accidentally delete an item you can always restore it from your 1Password account on 1Password.com: View and restore previous versions of items

So let's assume, the worlds internet break up and I can't connect to any of your servers.

I recommend that you install the 1Password desktop app. Even if you're offline or if our servers were to go down, you would still have access to your passwords in the desktop app since the desktop app maintains an offline cache.

This is also concerning, if done by accident: If you delete a vault in your 1Password account, this is permanent and deleted vaults cannot be restored.

When you choose to delete a vault, 1Password will always ask you to confirm that you'd like to permanently delete the vault. This two-step process is designed to avoid the accidental deletion of vaults:

The 1Password Unencrypted Export (1PUX) format allows you to export all of your items. The 1PUX file contains a lossless copy of all of your items, excluding passkeys, in an unencrypted format.

1PUX files are primarily designed for exporting your items if you wish to move to another password manager in the future. At the moment, there isn't an encrypted version of 1PUX and there isn't an automated backup feature. While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request on your behalf to have our team consider adding such a feature in the future.
