Cannot get touch id to work in 1password because it is greyed out

I followed all the steps in https://1password.community/discussion/136566/touch-id-option-on-mac-is-grayed-out. Nothing worked. I have no idea how to get touch id to be available. 1Password ...

I am having exactly the same issue. I sent in the diagostics, but I did not receive a reply with a Support ID #. (And yes, I checked my spam folders)
