Me too!
I think the latest 1Password installed application (Mac and Windows) has a bug! Only the browser extension is working!
DO NOT UPDATE 1Password application
This is a nightmare

I'm sorry that you ran into issues after updating 1Password. I don't see other reports of the same situation, and I can't reproduce the issue on my end, so we would need to investigate further what happened in your case.
I see that you have a ticket open with our team over email and my colleague sent you an email earlier today. Please continue the conversation there. If you don't see the email then please check your spam/junk folder.
To avoid duplicating efforts, I'll close this thread.

After clicking "restart to update" the desktop application stopped accepting my master password. This was true on Macbook and Android.
Experimented by creating many trial accounts on Windows 11 machines where 1Password had never been used.
Everything is fine until installing the desktop client. Then it won't accept the master password, and the extension won't work because it detects the presence of the desktop application.
Found a Windows 11 account where 1password had not yet been upgraded. It worked fine in that context. So it's the latest update that broke it.
I can "fix" it by uninstalling the desktop application and the browser extension then reinstalling just the browser extension.
Installed the CLI, and was pleased that it can authenticate without the desktop application installed. The CLI is working.
I want to downgrade to the last working version of the desktop applications and Android app, but they are not made available for download. Please let me download stable versions from June for Android, Mac and PC. This is a very standard thing for software vendors to do. I am a paying customer, BTW

Hello symedley! 👋
I'm sorry that you're running into trouble with the 1Password desktop app. I've merged your comments into one thread so that we can keep the conversation in one place. I'm not aware of any issues with the app at the moment regarding sign-in, the desktop app is working for me on all of my test devices.
So that I can better understand the situation that you're in, please tell me the following:
- What specific error message do you see when trying to unlock 1Password?
- Are you able to log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app or the extension)?
- Which version of 1Password are you using: Find the version numbers for 1Password and your operating system
I look forward to hearing from you.-Dave

I have averted a crisis by installing CLI from developer tools, and I was able to create a new account and import all the data. A little more housekeeping and I'll be all set.
This was caused by updating to the latest desktop application.
At this point, i've created 5 different test accounts, and the pattern is clear. Everything works fine until the desktop app is installed or updated. Devices with an older version of 1Password are fine. The application won't accept the master password and it takes over the login from the extension. I used 5 different devices to test a lot of hypotheses, so it's not just 1 device or 1 platform. It's a broad problem.
I'm trusting that 1Password will fix this problem soon. Until then I have uninstalled the desktop app from any platform where i needed to use the master password to log in. It's far from ideal, but I can make it work for a while.

and, of course, set it back to something reasonable after the application problem has been fixed

DO NOT UPDATE 1Password application
The latest desktop application for windows and mac has a bug. You cannot log into it if not yet logged in. Y
You can still use the extension
If you still have access anywhere SET THE APPLICATION TO NEVER REQUIRE RE-LOGIN
