Can't add rectangle icon for credit card items

I have a UnionPay credit card info saved in 1Password, which doesn't have its icon. I've tried to add a UnionPay icon for it:

But it got cropped like this:

So how can I add this icon like VISA/mastercard/AMEX cards' rectangle icons without cropping?

Some older versions of 1Password included a basic editing tool of the icon but 1Password 8 does not. You'll need to resize or crop the icon before adding it to an item in 1Password.

Wasn't there in the past a possibility to work on an inserted icon? (resize and move a bit)? But i can't find the dialog anymore? Did 1Password changed the icon-edit-area?

I would be very pleased about a feedback from you.

Thank you for the feedback! While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request on your behalf with the team internally. 🙂

1P_Dave I see. Thank you! Also I wish UnionPay (also JCB, Japan’s payment card cooperation) could has its icon in 1Password’s official icon database.

  • Hello xkww3n1! 👋

Thanks for the question! Custom icons are best formatted when they're 512 × 512 (pixels) or at least 180 × 180 (pixels) in a square format.

If you create a 500px by 500px PNG image using an image editor like Photoshop then you can add the credit card logo to the centre of the image leaving space at the top and bottom of the image. Make sure to retain transparency of the background when saving. Then 1Password will render an icon that looks rectangular when you add that PNG to an item in 1Password:

    I hope that helps!
