2 years agoChrome plug-in hangs
Sometimes when I click on the 1password plug-in in Chrome, the plug-in will display a box (as usual) but then it will only show a "spinner" in the center of the box and will hang like that indefinitely.
I suspect that this may occur if network access has been disturbed at some point but even after network access has been restored, the plug-in will remain in this state.
Rebooting the machine will usually address the issue, but that's a fairly heavy price to pay.

Hey Kevin10, I can understand why the beta version of the extension is not always a good fit. I'd like to ask some questions to better understand why things are hanging and to see if it's possible to resolve the issue without the beta version of the extension.
- Did the hanging behavior just start recently, or has this always been an issue?
- Does this behavior occur if the 1Password extension is disabled in Chrome?
- Does this behavior occur if you do not have as many tabs open?
- I understand why you would have many tabs open. I am only asking to see where the issue may be coming from.
- Do you use the 1Password desktop app?
- Do you have any other extensions installed in Chrome? If so, what are they?
- Do you have any anti-virus or anti-malware programs on your computer?
- Do you use a proxy or VPN?
I look forward to getting the above details.

I use many browser plugins. 1password support suggested that I methodically disable only one at a time.
It looks like the https://www.grammarly.com/browser/chrome was causing interference with the 1password plugin: when I disable Grammarly, 1password is no longer non-responsive.

Sorry, Chrome is my pane into basically all of my work. I typically have about 250-300 tabs going in Chrome, I can't be a beta tester for a Chrome extension.
Please let me know when the production version is updated and I will reinstall it. In the meantime, I'm getting by without the browser extension but it is annoying. - steph_giles

Thanks for sharing this @joshf.
@kevin10, can you let us know if the beta improves things for you?

Kevin10 Support directed me to the beta version of the extension, which seems to have fixed the issue for me. At least, I was able to use it for the past day without an issue. Progress!
May I ask you to try removing the 1Password extension from Brave, and then install the beta version? Our development team has released a few fixes in the beta version that may help improve the performance.

I've been having the same issue for the last 3-5 weeks or so. Looking at reviews here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/1password-%E2%80%93-password-mana/aeblfdkhhhdcdjpifhhbdiojplfjncoa seems like several others are also having the issue. Hopefully you're already getting close to a fix because 1password in the browser has been mostly unusable for weeks.

Thanks! I emailed support with the diagnostics. Support ID: [#BEN-26342-852]
Just to note, there's no status or information to be shared in the console log. The extension either locks up like in the screenshot above or stops responding altogether until I disable it and then re-enable it (to mixed success).
I've seen this issue on two separate machines that were working fine up until recently. Both on Brave with the extension and Mac app.

Hey @joshf,
I'm sorry for the trouble, could you please also follow the steps above to send us a diagnostics report and a console log so we can do some further investigation?
Please send the reports in an email message to support+forum@1password.com with a link to this thread. Thank you!

I'm experiencing the same issue in Brave. Sometimes disabling/reenabling the extension works, but not always. This just started in the last week or two and had been working as expected prior to that.
