Cmd-\ suddenly not bringing up prompt
I can't use cmd-\ to bring up the normal 1P prompt in MS Edge/Mac. I use that instead of the browser-based drop downs, and have for years. This started recently, possibly with an Edge update. It w...

No worries. As far as I can tell, this missing Quick Access behavior is on every form/login I've tried over the last couple days in Edge. My golden go-to for everything is Google; sure enough, I get only the browser extension drop-down and not the Quick Access.
I have to say, I've wrestled over various browser and 1P updates getting the extension drop-down menu to stop showing, and using only Quick Access. I usually get things settled in, but this is the first time I've seen Quick Access simply not appear in a normal window. InPrivate windows, I do struggle with getting Quick Access to appear--sometimes it works, then after another update it stops working, then some time later it works again.
Let's see, Edge extensions:
1Password
Disable HTML5 Autoplay
I Still Don't Care About Cookies
PDF24 Tools
Print Friendly
Privacy Badger
Save & Convert Image As Type
Fireshot
User Agent Switcher (forgot I had that--I don't need it)
uBlock Origin
Consent-O-Matic
Daily Mail Blocker
My T-Mo Helper (parses page code to display my account SOC code)
Open Tabs Next to Current
I am very familiar with turning off the HTML Autoplay disabler, Privacy Badger, and uBlock Origin when troubleshooting web pages and things like this. Nothing worked.
I will say, Disable HTML5 Autoplay and Privacy Badger were set to allow in InPrivate, while everything else was not. I turned that OFF for those two extensions, and made sure 1P was enabled for InPrivate, and tried with an InPrivate window--no joy.
Oh, this is interesting: I just logged in to my MB Pro as Guest, logged into the 1P app (LOVE LOVE LOVE the QR code!), installed the extension, got everything synchronized, and ran Edge. Clearly under Guest login this is a brand new, unsullied configuration. And...same behavior. Browser extension drop-down worked, but cmd-\ didn't--even after quitting and restarting 1P and Edge a few times.
Chrome extensions:
1Password
uBlock Origin Lite
And like I said, Chrome works fine.

5 months agoThanks for doing that testing with a fresh user account, aemerson, that's very helpful! Also glad you like the QR code sign-in process – I love it, too.
A colleague did point me to a bug we're working on that seems to be affecting Edge specifically, but I want to confirm you're experiencing the same thing or if it's a new bug. When you do cmd + \, do you still get the Quick Access pop up like below, just with no suggestions? Or does the pop-up not show at all?

Hi again aemerson,
I know you said cmd + \ isn't working, so let's try changing the keyboard shortcut to something else and see if that works. Go to your 1Password application (not the extension) then go to Settings -> General. Go to the Show Quick Access field and put in a new keyboard shortcut. I chose control + option + command + z, just to try and pick something cumbersome that hopefully no other app is using, but just try and pick something unusual that your fingers can still do :)
If you do that, does the new keyboard shortcut work to bring up Quick Access?

Ah. Well, we may have been talking at odds. Show quick access works; it's cmd-\ that stopped working.
Quick access opens, but is not at all linked to the web site I'm on. In fact, it shows a random login. Regardless, what I'm looking for is old school cmd-\ to just fill in the login items. If I have multiple logins for the same page for some reason, it should list them all and let me choose.
At the same time, I don't want the browser extension drop down menu to appear. Frankly, I've always found that to be WAY intrusive.
And up until now, what I describe above has been working fine. Am I asking too much? Was there a fundamental change? I can't imagine so; like I said, it works the way I want when I do it in Chrome.
Oh--and btw, as I was fooling around with this just now, I see nothing works in the Amex web site. I get "no items to show" from the browser extension dropdown. Again, this is all new. It worked fine before, and works perfectly fine in Chrome.
