1Password for Windows unexpectedly asked for my Secret Key
Thank you for opening this thread. I’d like to report that I’m experiencing the same issue.
As of yesterday evening, I was able to sign in to 1Password and everything worked normally.
However, this morning I can no longer log in because 1Password is now asking for my Secret Key. I’m certain I didn’t change my password or make any modifications. I simply shut down my computer last night and opened it again this morning.
I can’t find my Secret Key anywhere, and this is the only device where I was signed in. I’m currently asking my team members to help me recover my account.
Like Netpog mentioned, this feels like a very strange issue and shouldn’t happen. Without a Secret Key or an Emergency Kit backup, a user could permanently lose access to their account.
OS: Window 10
Browser: Microsoft Edge - Version 143.0.3650.80 (Official build) (64-bit)
Extension version: 8.11.20.3.9

Hello TrungTang! 👋
Welcome to the community! Since the older thread hasn't had any activity in three years, I've split your post into a new thread to keep the conversation up-to-date. I'm glad that your admin was able to help you recover access to your 1Password account.
Were you asked for your Secret Key when using 1Password in Microsoft Edge? Or when using the 1Password desktop app? If it was only in the browser, and you were also asked to sign back into your Google accounts, then it sounds like something cleared your browser's data. Let me know if I misunderstood.

Hi 1P_Dave ,
I was prompted to enter my Secret Key when using 1Password in Microsoft Edge. I don’t have the 1Password desktop app installed on my laptop.
I believe this happened because my browser data was unexpectedly cleared. This has occurred once before: all my active sessions (Google Mail, GitHub, etc.) were cleared, but I was still able to access 1Password without being asked for the Secret Key.
This time, however, only my Google session was cleared while my GitHub session remained active, yet 1Password still required the Secret Key.
In any case, this is a good lesson for me to securely back up the 1Password Emergency Kit to avoid this situation in the future.
Thank you.

Hi TrungTang, thanks for sharing these details!
It does sound as if this was caused by your browser data being cleared. Having a securely stored copy of your Emergency Kit is definitely a good idea in case this happens again in future.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

I was able to log back in after requesting an account recovery process from my admin.
It seems the issue might be related to the browser. I’m currently signed in with five Gmail accounts, and today all of those sessions were unexpectedly terminated, forcing me to log in again for each one.
