The issue that you're referring to was indeed fixed in the past, for example you can remove data from an expiry date field using 1Password 7. 1Password 8 is a complete rewrite of the app; while the issue currently affecting 1Password 8 looks similar to the issue reported for 1Password 6 back in 2016 it is not the same issue.

I'm sorry for the frustration, I've added your report to the internal work item open for the issue so that the developers are aware of the impact to your workflow.
