cryptpad and document-specific passwords
I sometimes access shared documents on cryptpad.fr that have document-specific shared passwords. I'm curious if anyone has figured out any good way to use 1password for this. It would be great to...

2 months agoHi jrochkind! Thanks for writing in.
I'm not a CryptPad user, but I made an account to do some testing. In that testing I couldn't find an elegant solution here. I'd be curious to hear if other CryptPad users, or those in similar circumstances, managed to come up with something a bit more clever!
When I was creating a password protected document, I used the prompt to create a new item then titled the item with something identifiable (in my case pretty simple 😂). You can also edit the autofill behaviour directly from this prompt, though there isn't an option that will achieve the workflow you described in your post.
One thing I considered was setting the document specific items to never fill on cryptpad.fr so they won't appear on the main login screen. When accessing a document you could search up the relevant item in the 1Password extension, then copy over the password or drag-and-drop. However, the document login screen doesn't seem to provide much information regarding the document so you might have to name the items with a distinct string from the URL or some other identifier.
You mentioned an interest in some additional autofill behaviour options. I'd be happy to pass along your comments to the team. Could you share a bit more about the options you'd like to see, and if you could see yourself using these options on sites other than CryptPad? Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply!
I was thinking of an "only fill on this exact host AND PATH" option. So an entry with https://example.com/some/thing would only auto-fill on /some/thing, and you could have a *different* entry like `https://example.com/other/other` that would only fill on `/other/other`. 1Password lets you enter a URL like that already in the `website` field, but I think it ignores the path portion of the URL after the host.
It would work anywhere that has document-specific (rather than host/site-specific) passwords, but for me the only site I use like that is cryptpad -- but I use cryptpad a lot, it is popular in certain communities.- 1P_Timothy2 months ago

Thanks for following up with me jrochkind.
I can definitely see the benefit in "only fill on this exact host and path" options. The focus with the autofill behaviour feature has been more so on host and website specific options, but it would be great to see further enhancements to support more use cases, such as the document specific ones you've touched on here. I cannot promise this is something that will be added to 1Password, but I've shared your comments with the team.
Thanks again for sharing this with us!
