Hi all I save all sorts of info into 1PW Is there any way to build and save Custom Templates? Even modifying an existing 'Login' template or Secure Note and saving the modified version would be us...

8 months agoHi robfol, thanks for joining the community!
There isn't an option to add custom templates to the "New Item" workflow. I would typically recommend selecting the closest item type, then modifying the fields to suit your needs. That said, if you're creating a lot items I can understand how that could become cumbersome
I'd be happy to share your request for this feature with the team. Could you share a bit more about the type of custom items you find yourself saving, and how frequently you create them? Thanks again!

+1 for this idea.
TBH, a "device" record should be considered as one of the default item types. Recording serial/IMEI numbers and warranty/insurance details is pretty important if the devices are stolen.
Creating custom record types to have them in the sidebar would still be preferred. Particularly for saving application specific information like API keys, OAuth client IDs, and other shared user credentials, custom templates that are more specific to the type/format of the API key would be preferable. E.g.: including fields to record "permission/role" details.

Hiya
I file a lot of products with serial numbers and more. Also a lot of odd things, often with files attached.
A Secure Note is often fine as is a Modified Login, but then all the mods I make are lost!
What i would like is very simple, when I modify a record/item of any sort, I want to be able to save item that with all changes as a new named template for my future use.
Surely can't be that hard?
Cheers Robert

Hey robfol , thanks for the extra context there.
I can't say if or when a custom item type feature would be added to 1Password, but I've shared your request with the team.
This is a bit of a hacky workaround, but one thing I thought of would be to customize an item with the fields/headings that you need, save it blank (perhaps in a custom item vault?), then duplicate the item and fill it in as needed leaving the blank as a master copy. I understand a fully supported feature would be ideal, but perhaps this is an option to explore.
Thanks again!
