4 years agoDate format is incorrect in 1Password for Mac
Hi, greetings from the UK.
I noticed that the date / time format for created / modified uses North American format (ie. back to front for us Brits).
Could this be changed to use the locale of the user please?
Many thanks.

Hello folks,
Our developers have released improvements to how 1Password handles date formatting in the latest version of the 1Password desktop app (8.10.80). You can read more here: Improved date formatting in the 1Password desktop app
If you still see an issue with version 8.10.80 (or later) then please post a screenshot of what you see in the 1Password app and your current operating system region/date settings in the new thread. I'll close this old thread in order to keep the conversation in one place.

I just encountered this issue for the first time and raised a support issue. This issue seems like it’s common to all Electron-based apps... I’ve yet to encounter a single one that handles date/times correctly.
I’m wondering if it’s related to this bug, one that was raised 6yrs ago: https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/13023#issuecomment-418581463

Hello everyone,
The development team is working on a complete overhaul of how dates are handled in the app as a whole but that work will take time since we want to make sure that we get it right.
Fixes included in previous updates to 1Password have improved the situation considerably for many but there are certain cases where localization is still not working as it should be. Specifically, if you're using a region that differs from the language selected. For example:
- Region:
United Kingdom
- Preferred language:
English (US)
Although the region is set to the United Kingdom, 1Password displays the date format as if the region was set to the United States. This is due to language and region not being clearly separated. A workaround is to change your language to the region that includes the date format that you'd like to use. So, if you wanted to use the DD/MM/YY format used in the UK you would set your preferred language in macOS to
English (UK)
.This suggestion isn't going to work for everyone since some folks require a specific regional language that differs from their geographic region. Our development team is actively working on a proper solution. But I wanted to mention the workaround again for those who were new to the thread.
As mentioned, our developers are working on a complete refactor of the code that handles the rendering of dates/times. Not only will this refactor improve 1Password in many areas, and allow for better date rendering in general, but the refactored code will allow 1Password to correctly display dates/times according to the region set in macOS and will resolve the issue reported in this thread for all users and all regions. The team's focus is on getting this new date/time rendering system developed and released. While I'm unable to say which update will include the overhaul, our developers continue to be aware of the importance of getting date regions correct.
I know that this issue has been affecting some folks for quite some time and I'm sorry for the continued impact to your workflows. Your feedback and frustration regarding this issue is heard by the entire team. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we continue to work to develop and release a solution that will resolve the issue for everyone.

The fact that this hasn't been fixed in 1.5 years makes me doubt AgileBits software quality in general. What else is being handled so sloppy? Is this software really handling my passwords securely if the devs are not even able to output date and time values formatted to system locale settings?
Or is the focus now mainly on developing business features for large corporate customers and not caring anymore about UX basics for the actual endusers?1pw8 has been a rough UX ride so far on all platforms I use (iOS, macOS, Windows), but I gave AgileBits the benefit of the doubt when they decided to abandon 1pw7. Unfortunately more than 2 years later I'm still waiting for anything good coming out of it. :-(

How can something go so wrong which was not an issue in 1pw7?

Since this hasn't been mentioned yet, the fix isn't working for Preferred Language set to English (Singapore) — Primary (Sonoma 14.1.2 and 1Password for Mac 8.10.23). 1Password is still using the US date format and not the date format set in Languages and Preferences. I agree with others that this isn't just a cosmetic issue but can lead to grave errors when entering info like expiration dates of important keys and documents. Please prioritise fixing this, at least for the preferred languages that have already been mentioned.

Same here, it's so annoying. Every single time I need a date I have to slow down and think what format it is, where is a day and where is a month. Really breaking my workflow

this issue is driving me nuts, pls fix it ASAP, can't believe it's been more than a year for what appears to be a simple problem

Any update on this issue yet?
- vishalshethSuper Contributor
I fail to understand why should it take so long for such a simple update? This was never an issue with 1p7. What’s happening here? Why is the team not able to solve a simple problem which didn’t exist in the earlier versions?

I, too, am having the same problem where my 2021 iMac 24", 2016 MacBook Pro, 2021 iPad 11", iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 12 mini is in the region of Malaysia, where we use the DD/MM/YYYY format. My 1Password client on ALL of my Apple devices are showing "modified" and "created" in MM/DD/YYYY. I checked the Language & Region in General Settings, the Date Format is shown as DD/MM/YYY.
Please help me change 1Password client to DD/MM/YYYY.
Thank you.
