Disable session expiry on page reload / new tab

When I open a new tab, or reload the current page, it logs me out of 1pass.

I have a lot of passwords in my vault from a number of people, along with an import from an old password manager. When trying to sort these out I want to have multiple tabs open so I can see the details of each login side by side, but every time I open a new tab I need to type in my master password, which is a pain because its not very short.

I've looked online, through this community, and in 1pass itself but couldn't find a way to disable this behavior.

I have a password on my computer and I lock it when I'm not at my computer. I'm also in an office with others that have access to the same vault anyway so even if they did somehow figure out how to unlock my computer they wouldn't get anything new. The chances of someone off the street coming upstairs and achieving anything is between 0 and getting struck by lighting. I'm all for security but not being able to reload a page or have multiple tabs open is way over the top.

    Hey @sorokin ,
    Thanks for the clarification.

    The web app does not check constantly if the extension is unlocked - that would require us to actively have our servers sending requests to the extension and vice versa, which is not something we want.
    The solution here is to open the extension in a static window. Here's how:

    1. Open the extension.
    2. Select the login item you need and view its details.
    3. Click the button at the bottom that has two squares and and arrow coming out of them. That will open the item in a new floating window that will remain open.

    You can keep opening such floating windows for as many items you want - they'll move behind the browser when you focus the browser's window again but will remain open for as long as the extension is unlocked.

    Hi @ag_yaron,

    Thanks for the reply, I should have mentioned this in my original post; I've already increased the auto-lock timer to max (300 minutes) and have both the browser extension and the desktop app installed. I didn't think to mention it as the extension opens the web app directly. My use case was to open multiple windows to compare details across 2+ different saved logins. The desktop app doesn't have multiple windows and the chrome extension window closes as soon as it loses focus.

    I opened the new tabs I mentioned by clicking the edit link in the chrome extension. This opens a "magic login url" that links to the login details in a valid user session; however, given that I remain logged in to the extension it is very unintuitive that I should ever be logged out of the browser without me explicitly doing so. It is just a matter of inconvenience that I need to find the login and click edit again, having the browser session expire on page reload doesn't provide any security benefit as long as I'm logged in to the extension.

    Hey @sorokin ,

    Since you are using our web app, you'll want to go into your account's settings and adjust the auto-lock timer:

    1. Log into your account on our website.
    2. Click your name on the top right corner of the page and select "My Profile".
    3. On the left sidebar where it shows your name and options to change your email/password, you'll see the Auto-lock timer setting which you can change as you see fit.

    I'd also like to note that you can greatly improve your experience if you install our extension in your browser, which will allow you to autofill your Master Password immediately without having to type it:https://support.1password.com/getting-started-browser/
    You can also install our desktop app, which you might find a lot more comfortable to handle when deleting/editing items, as you can mass move/delete items in the desktop app: https://1password.com/downloads/

    The web app is nice but have some limitations as it is a website. The native desktop app and the extension offers better functionality and experience in most cases :)
