Don't re-enable 'Sign in automatically' after extension update

This has happened a couple of times in the past year now - please don't trample a user's settings when doing major updates to the browser extension. I know that y'all want to make sign in easier, but I really don't like 1Password automatically submitting a login form for me, and I had that setting disabled. I expect that setting to remain disabled after an update.

  • Hello kop48! 👋

I'm sorry that the "Sign in automatically after autofill" option is getting turned back on. 1Password won't change your settings after an update and it sounds like something is going wrong. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following:

    1. Do you change any other settings for 1Password in the browser and are they reset after an update as well?
    2. Which browser are you using? And what kind of device is this happening on?
    3. Do you ever clear your browser's history/cache/cookies or do you have an app that might clear browser data?
    4. Is your device managed by your workplace? Or is this a personal device?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for answering those questions. When you notice that "Sign in automatically after autofill" has been reset, do you see a new browser linked to your account? You can check here:

        1. Log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com.
        2. Click your name, then click My Profile.
        3. Look under "Linked to Your Account".

If you do see multiple recent entries for your browser then it would suggest that something is clearing the 1Password browser extension's data from your device and I would recommend reaching out to your work's IT team so that they can investigate further.

If you don't see multiple recent browsers listed under "Linked to Your Account" then let me know.
