Drag & drop no longer works into Windows RDP credential prompt (worked before) [1Password 8.12.1]
Hi,
We’re using 1Password for Windows 8.12.1 and we’ve noticed a regression: drag & drop of the password into the Windows RDP credential popup no longer works, while drag & drop into other windows/apps still works as usually.
Steps to reproduce
- Start an RDP session locally (mstsc / Remote Desktop Connection)
- The Windows credential/login popup appears
- Try to drag & drop the password from 1Password into the password field
Expected Password is dropped/typed into the password field (this used to work for us)
But nothing happens / the drop is ignored (drag & drop works elsewhere). The cursor changes, but thats it.
I am using Windows 11
Question Is this a known issue/regression in 8.12.x, or is this due to Windows/RDP secure input handling? Any recommended fix or setting?

I'm running in to this too, any news on when it'll be fixed 1P_Gem?

Hi pven, welcome to the Community!
This does sound like a known issue we're tracking, where both drag and drop and Auto-Type don't work in Windows Security prompts, including the RDP credential prompt. Other apps continue to work as expected.
I've added your report to our internal work item so we can track the impact, and I apologise for the inconvenience here. As a workaround for now, copying and pasting credentials across should still work.
If you have any other questions, let me know!

Hi pven and martinsteel, thanks for checking in.
I’ve taken a look at the bug report and can confirm that the team is actively working on this. It’s proven a bit more complex to resolve than initially expected, so I don’t have an ETA to share just yet.
Thanks for your patience here!
