Fastmail Masked Mail alternatives?

I've been testing Fastmail with 1Password for a few months and really like it. Everything works quickly and easily.
Before the collaboration with Fastmail, I have never heard of this email hosting company.
The only downside I find is that to use the Masked Mail feature with 1Password, I have to create a brand new email account with this company. This is very unfortunate, because I already have an Outlook e-mail address in combination with a Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

Compared to SimpleLogin, Firefox Relay and AnonAddy, I find Fastmail quite expensive if you only use the Masked Mail feature.

Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this? Are there any safe unofficial tools I can use for an integration?
I would really like to cancel my Fastmail subscription.

To think that there is a three-year-old thread without further notice is kind of disappointing.

But I'd still love more email masking options beyond Fastmail! While their integration is great, it doesn't solve everyone's privacy needs.

    Why Fastmail Alone Falls Short:

    • Cost Barriers:
      • Masked emails tied to a paid Fastmail account
      • Excludes users with limited budgets
      • Not accessible to everyone
    • Limited Flexibility:
      • Restricted functionality compared to specialized providers
      • Lacks advanced features like:
        • API access
        • Open-source options
        • Self-hosting capabilities
        • Personal domain support
        • Granular alias management
    • Diverse User Requirements:
      • Different send-as and relay models needed
      • Varying legal and regional constraints
      • Risks of vendor lock-in
      • Pricing structures don't suit all user types

    Recommended Providers to Integrate:

    • SimpleLogin: Robust API, send-as functionality
    • AnonAddy: Open-source, self-hosting options
    • Duck Email Protection: Simple forwarding, large user base
    • Firefox/Mozilla Relay: Privacy-focused, browser integration
    • Addy.io: Business-oriented features

    Integration Wishlist:

    • Direct alias creation in 1Password
    • Automatic signup form filling
    • Alias rotation and deactivation
    • Centralized alias management
    • Generic connector framework for multiple providers

    Why This Matters:

    • Masking is becoming a privacy standard
    • Users need flexible, affordable solutions
    • 1Password could become the ultimate privacy management hub

Who else wants more comprehensive email protection? Let's make our voices heard!

I have the same exact situation and was looking for alternatives. My question was answered in this message thread, and I'll anxiously await any action on this idea.

  • Interesting idea. I'll pass it along to the rest of the team for consideration. Thanks for sharing.

Would it be a good idea if 1Password partners with Mozilla for a Firefox Relay integration? A Firefox Relay integration can be made possible by using the Firefox Relay API key to link your 1Password account to your Firefox account.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll let the team know you are interested in alternative services. I would not recommend any unofficial tools. Sure you can use other services but there are none that interact with 1Password directly. For the safety of your data, I would only recommend official channels.
