Hello RemikX! 👋
Thank you for reaching out! The team is currently testing passkey unlock for 1Password in a public beta. As part of this exciting new functionality, you can use a passkey that is stored on a security key to unlock 1Password. If you're interested in helping us to test this feature you can learn more here: Unlock 1Password with a passkey (beta)
second thing, now auto-lock is possible when system is idle, can you add possibility of auto-lock after specified time regardless of the system status?
1Password doesn't include a feature to have the app auto-lock after a set period of time. Instead the app will lock when there’s no keyboard, mouse, or trackpad activity on your PC for a specified amount of time: Manage auto-lock in the 1Password apps
That being said, I'm happy to file a feature request to have our team add more options here. Can you tell me a little more about why you'd like auto-lock to be based on a set amount of time?

I completely agree that auto-lock after a fixed duration (regardless of activity) would be a great addition for those of us who want a higher security posture.
With the prevalence of remote access trojans, an attacker could keep a session active via software to keep the vault open. An absolute timer mitigates that attack. Plus, with biometrics making re-authentication low-friction, the hassle is negligible, should a user opt for this type of auto-lock.
To make this even more effective, it would be great if 1Password also offered an option requiring authentication before allowing any changes to security settings. That way, even if someone, whether a remote attacker or an "evil maid" with physical access, gets into an unlocked device, they couldn't simply go in and disable the auto-lock timer you've set (or change any other critical security settings).
Adding these as opt-in toggles would allow users to decide exactly how much friction they want in exchange for an extra layer of protection.

Thank you for the detailed requests. I can certainly see how a purely time based auto-lock timer could be useful and have forwarded that request for our Product team.
For your second request, could you confirm if in the scenario you're discussing the 1Password app/extension is already unlocked and you'd like an additional unlock/authentication prompt when changing security settings?

Thank you!
For the second request, I meant if 1Password is already unlocked, having the option to have an additional authentication prompt for security settings (and I guess that would include anything where a quick action could do a lot of damage). Like, in case I stepped away from my machine, didn't think to lock 1Password, and someone else might quickly jump on my computer to try to change an important security setting while I'm away.- Trevor_1P1 month ago

Thank you for the further detail! I've gone ahead and forwarded that to our Product team as well 🙂.
