Feature Request: Autofill for OTP codes delivered by email

It would be great if 1Password could detect an incoming OTP email (similar to how iOS detects SMS codes from Messages) and offer the code as an autofill suggestion in the login field.

Rough idea of how it could work:

• Optional integration with the user’s mail account (IMAP / Gmail / Apple Mail on macOS).

• Match the code to the website/app currently requesting input, based on sender domain or recent login context.

• Show the code as a one-tap suggestion in the autofill bar, then discard it.

Would make 1Password the single place I go for any kind of authentication code, which is the experience I’d expect from a password manager in 2026.

  • Hello dankinsoid! 👋

Thank you for the feature request! Since this would require 1Password to access and scan your emails, I’m not sure this is something our team would pursue given the privacy and security implications.

For our existing integrations, such as the Fastmail masked email alias integration, we intentionally rely on very limited permissions and avoid requiring access to an entire account whenever possible.

That being said, I'll pass your suggestion along to our product so that they can look into this further for the future! For the time being, I recommend setting up 1Password as your authenticator app for one-time passwords wherever possible.

  • You have a partnership with Fastmail, this would be a compelling extension of that relationship. With approval from the user, get Fastmail to set up some kind of rule where it harvests codes from approved senders, and makes them available to 1Password.

It would involve some work on FM's side too, but if the connection was made, it would be an amazing value-add.
