Feature Request: Folder organization
Bring back organize passwords into folders. The system with tags and collections is absolutely terrible. This might work well when you have 10 passwords, but I have more than 1k. Every time I need to find something or add a new entry, it turns into some kind of nightmare. After version 6, with each version it only gets worse.

Hello Reloac! π
Thank you for the suggestion! As you mentioned, 1Password offers several ways to organize your items. The most basic way is by using the built-in categories which divide your items by type, such as Logins or Identities: 1Password item categories
Beyond that, you can create different vaults for different purposes. So you can have one vault that will contain items that only you use and another that contains items that your family uses as well. You can create many different vaults and name them anything you wish: Create and share vaults
Collections are groups of vaults and they allow you to specify which vaults and items you see and search so that you can exclude the vaults you don't need during your regular day. You can read more about Collections here: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
Tags allow you to organize items regardless of their category or vault. You can use a tag as a sort of pseudo-folder since it will only contain the items that include that tag. You can search for different tags by using search filters: Search in the 1Password app to find what you need
The system with tags and collections is absolutely terrible. This might work well when you have 10 passwords, but I have more than 1k. Every time I need to find something or add a new entry, it turns into some kind of nightmare.
That does sound frustrating and I'd love to pass along your experience and request to our product team so that they can see if we can improve how 1Password works for you. Can you tell me a little more about what kind of item you're looking for and how you're searching for that item in 1Password? By understanding your need for a feature like folders the product team will be able to prioritize your request accordingly. π

I understand how work vaults and collections, but I don't feel comfortable creating a separate store for each case. In addition, soon a large number of them will accumulate and this will turn into an even bigger nightmare.
Categories don't solve the problem because they show a flat list of ALL items. For example, when accessing a database, I first need to find the ssh password, after authorization, I need to find the database password. Every time I have to select a category and look for the server I need in a long list. Seriously?
Tags in 1Password have a hierarchy. Why? A tag is a keyword or term assigned to a piece of information. It should not be nested. Ok, you made a hierarchy for tags, but why the hell can't they be collapsed in this case? Instead of a neat, hierarchical folder structure, I have a long sausage of hundreds of unorganized items.
When I add a new item, instead of putting it in one folder, I need to remember exactly what storage I need to put it in and what tags to add so that there is a chance that I will find it someday.
Same with search. I may not remember exactly what an element is called, but I know which group it belongs to, and in the case of a hierarchy, I can quickly find what I need. But if I use tags and I need the password for the "Name" company server, I will select the "Name" tag and get a list of a large number of items associated with the company, servers, databases, mailboxes, website accounts, etc.
I honestly donβt understand why it was necessary to abandon folders and also remove the functionality of smart folders. For what?

Thank you for the detailed feedback! We do have an existing issue regarding the inability to collapse nested tags and I've added your comments there. I've also passed along your feedback regarding organization and folders in 1Password to our product team.

You can use search filters to help with this:
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Type
=tag:Name =category:Server
into the search field and click Show all matching items or press Command-Enter.
You'll only see Server items that have that specific tag.

Instead of a couple of clicks, should I write a whole search query? And do this every time? Unfortunately, I canβt write what I think about it, because, that this is a family-friendly community.
Add at least the option to save query as presets.
