The Masked Email feature is a great idea but the downside is it’s limited to Fastmail. It would be great to have SimpleLogin integration so non-Fastmail users could take advantage of Masked Email.

ProtonPass/Bitwarden + Simplelogin is a powerhouse solution that 1P really needs to catch up to. Most people aren't interested in Fastmail because they want to keep their current email provider (e.g. Gmail). Unlike ProtonPass, 1P + FastMail is an additional cost, not a free integration. At this stage, 1Password is only addressing half of the privacy and security concerns by just providing a password generator. But it does nothing for your username/email address which should also be anonymized/randomized. Most database leaks have your email/username completely unencrypted so it's even more important that they should be random/unique for each account creation. I'll be switching over to ProtonPass due to their FREE SimpleLogin integration once my 1P subscription runs out. That should give enough time for ProtonPass to catch up with some basic QoL features 1P has but none are as important as the email aliase feature on ProtonPass.

Just adding my 2cents here and as a community please can we get an update & not just the usual "your vote has been added"... There are A LOT of votes and requests since July '22 and we are now in Sep '23. Surely the minds at 1Password have figured this out after 14 months or are we just going to continue voting for something that may eventually either happen or not? Just be honest with us!

This is a needed feature, I'm actually considering switching to ProtonPass simply due to this integration, Fastmail is simply too expensive for what it offers.

I understand you are busy and likely have more pressing matters to address, but it has been 3 years and 1 month since the initial request for SimpleLogin integration that I've found. I acknowledge that SimpleLogin is now owned by Proton, a competitor of yours, but it should be easy to decide whether to integrate SimpleLogin support for your "Masked Email" feature. There are clear benefits to using an email alias service instead of relying solely on your personal email for everything. This decision should be even easier for you given the following: SimpleLogin is open-source and can be self-hosted. There is publicly available API documentation for every endpoint, making it extremely easy to integrate and a widely-used solution. As the project can be self-hosted, any integration would require a field for users to input a SimpleLogin API URL. This would allow other email alias providers to create endpoints for a SimpleLogin-compatible API or, if they lack a compatible API, anyone could create a open-source middleware or adapter that could be deployed by anyone in one-click to Cloudflare Workers, for example, to receive requests from 1Password, parse them, make requests to the incompatible service, receive their response, transform it to match the SimpleLogin API specification, and return it to 1Password. Making every email alias service compatible with 1Password. Matters related to security and privacy should not restrict users to a single vendor. You understand the importance and benefits of using email aliases, so why would you not want to make it easier for people to start using them? I understand there may be shared interests between Fastmail and 1Password's team, owners, or investors, and there may be a greater interest in not assisting your competitor, Proton, by implicitly recommending one of their products. However, please do not let these factors hinder the value of your product or cause the many users who have requested this feature to wait for another 3 years.

Adding my vote. Please provide an update that it is being looked into or not.

Can I remind anyone interested in this feature to like the original post of this Feature Request ?
It only has 22 likes right now, despite 7K views and 178 messages. Let's give it some love ^^
On the other hand, I cannot understand how it is possible that the 2 most liked feature requests still haven't been addressed by now. Some of the 1300 employees could surely take a look at this...

  The features we implement, and the timing of their release, depend on several factors, such as our existing product roadmap, planned enhancements, urgent bug fixes that may take priority over new requests, the availability of development resources, and input from customers.

Features aren’t developed based solely on the number of requests, and we don’t want to give the impression that “likes” are the only factor in our decision-making. Because of this, the number of “likes” on a post isn’t always a true reflection of how often a feature is being requested overall or that it might be prioritised over other work on our roadmap.

ProtonPass supports it. There I said it. Proton probably doesn't allow it to be integrated with 1Password. It is unfortunate. Also ProtonPass is included with my current bundle and I have somewhat mixed feelings. I've been loyal for many years and 1Password has been a great tool and service that me and my family use on a daily basis. So is ProtonMail and since it is bundling this feature now, I dunno how much longer i can allow this inconvenience to continue. I've wanted this integration for ages and it hasn't happend.

    Thanks Dave, I would like to move away from iCloud Hide My Mail to an integration in 1Password with anything other than a Big Tech solution: addy.io, simplelogin,... take your pick. Fastmail is nice, but I'm not prepared to open (and pay for) yet another mailbox just for having Masked Mail features. It's surprising to me that this isn't a ubiquitous feature in Password Managers in general, given all the spam and scams taking place on a daily basis based on e-mail. I understand it's a more advanced feature, tailored to more advanced users and therefor investing in it perhaps less attractive? I can go back 5 years in this forum to see initial requests for this feature... but, to date there is no formal stance or outlook on this topic from 1Password. I've been a Family subscriber for almost 10 years and would love to see this feature integrated. I can get rid of many solutions, Apple included - it's happening -, but 1Password has a special spot in my heart because it's been rock solid all these years. I actually enjoy paying for this service, because it is so good. However, others are adopting it, such as Bitwarden. As such, a gentle nudge from me to hopefully induce more awareness of the necessity for privacy on top of security and get this show on the road. ;) Thanks for your consideration.

I have now personally decided to give 1P until the end of 2024 to bring new information or features. Otherwise, after all these years, a change is due.

The behavior is also strange. The thread is no longer pushed when there is a new message...

vealpool Proton definitely allows this integration to happen. For one, SimpleLogin is open source, and with 1Password's large user base, Proton would certainly benefit from this.

I suspect that either they have prioritized other changes or, through a survey or some other metric, determined that there isn't enough demand for it. Alternatively, it’s possible that someone within the organization is opposed to this integration, so it just won't happen any time soon.

Maybe Proton won't allow integration.
Then the 1P team can tell us that. Otherwise we'll just get our hopes up unnecessarily.
I was hoping that 1P would integrate Simplelogin so that I don't have to switch to Proton.

Lately we've only seen fixes and no new features.
