This behaviour occurs on Firefox's end. I've located the open bug on Mozilla's page: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1799344.

If you prefer not to wait for their fix, you can manually adjust this option on Firefox's Advanced Preferences page. Here's how:

Please proceed with caution when changing Firefox's advanced configuration. This is experimental, and Mozilla hasn't yet decided to turn this on by default. There is a possibility that this may break other extensions or cause unexpected outcomes.

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Paste about:config into Firefox's address bar and press Enter.
  3. In the search field, paste extensions.openPopupWithoutUserGesture.enabled.
  4. Press the toggle button to change the option to True.
