How to disable automatic spell checking?
My language is not supported and I have a lot of texts red-underlined from the spell-checker. I don't want it. How can I turn it off?

Translate was the wrong word. My apologies. I actually grabbed the text you entered and tried it on my side, with no trouble and I did not experience the spell checking issue you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your configuration. Now I have a few additional data points to check.

I am typing in both Dutch and English. My OS is set to English. 1P is set to "system default".
This happens both in the the notes section as well a regular text fields:
If you save the item, it's no longer visible. If you edit the item and the field gets focus, it's appears again.
I don't know why you would want to translate the message, that was not the point. The screenshot I showed was to demonstrate how annoying it is to have a gazillion red squiggly lines in my text, even my text is flawlessly spelled, but in a different language. I have the same gripe with MS Word, but there I can turn it off.
Checking spelling is a nice feature, but for those of us who are multi-lingual, and use the 1P app likewise, spellchecking becomes annoying. The ability to turn it off is then a must.
For good measure: using 1Password for Windows 8.10.35 (81035003)

The team is asking for more details on what you experienced. Can you provide more? What languages are giving you trouble? You're welcome to provide those here or you're welcome to email those to us if you prefer. If you'd prefer email please use

.I was able to translate the message with no trouble. Can you share if this is in the true note section or if this is in a defined text field? It looks like the latter. I tried replicating your experience. I was unable to do so. My copy is set to use the default language of the OS. Do you have 1Password set to a specific language other (different) than your OS? Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Here's my vote to pass to the dev-team as well. It's driving me nuts. Having multilanguage items in 1P is a UX disaster. It's almost as bad as working with MS Teams. At least give us the option in the beta for a little JSON property
{spellcheck: false}
or something. As for the question why?
That's why. - 1P_Dave

Thank you for those details, I've passed those along to the team internally. They'll look into adding an option to turn off spellcheck in 1Password in the future. 🙂

First: I am working in two languages. Any spell checking will fail in at least one language.
Second: Spell checking is a feature. Features must be toggled on an off.
Third: I dislike spell checking in general and the red lines hurt my eyes. ;) - 1P_Dave

The request is still open but I don't have any updates to share. I'm happy to pass along your feedback as well, can you tell me a little more about why you'd like to turn spellcheck off?

How long will it take until there is an option to disable the spell checking?

Thank you for those screenshots, I've shared them with the team and let them know of your request to add an option to turn off the spellcheck in 1Password. While I can't make any promises, the team will consider the request for the future. 🙂
