In the mac I downloaded a 2FA and that also is not helping, so I had to finally log in with my apple ID.

Could you please clarify what you mean here? What exactly did you download on your Mac? Also, is your NordVPN account now set up such that you have to log in with your Apple ID credentials instead of a username & password specific to the VPN?

The first company I wanted to get the codes for is Nordvpn and it showed them in the article
but it did not show any QR codes>?

Have you already set up 2FA with NordVPN? If so, generally you need to disable 2FA and re-enable it in order to get a new QR code / 2FA secret.
