I requested this years and years ago when I first started using 1Password, and was thrilled to see it implemented pretty quickly. I was less thrilled when it stopped working not long after, and have been increasingly disappointed that the regression has been ignored. I trip on this a dozen times a day.
Steph, I'm not sure what you mean by "container tab icon" - are you using an addon for this? Container tabs are built into Firefox and don't require an addon, which is why it's so perplexing that 1Password is fighting with and overriding a native browser feature.
Correct behavior:
- Open new tab in "Banking" container (about:newtab or about:blank)
- Open 1Password addon menu, find entry, click "open and fill"
- The bank site is opened in the existing "Banking" container tab
Broken behavior:
- Open new tab in "Banking" container
- Open 1Password addon menu, find entry, click "open and fill"
- 1Password closes my Banking tab and opens the site in a new tab without a container
In short, the request is: If the current tab is about:newtab or about:blank, use it instead of closing it and opening a new one"
Stretch goal: Let me tell 1Password that a particular entry or tag should always open in a certain tab container.
