I used 1password for Android 11, but I can’t anymore.
Hello, people.
I’ve been using 1Password 8 (and previously 1Passport 7) on my Xiaomi Mi9T (2020) Pro for a long time now. My Android version is 11, and I can’t upgrade it.
Agilebits announced on january 2026 that «With the late-February release of 1Password for Android, we will be increasing the minimum Android version to Android 12» but also «Devices that don’t meet the minimum version by the deprecation date can continue using 1Password for Android, but app updates will be unavailable until the device is updated to a supported Android version». So I thought I could use my phone for some more time. My battery couldn’t sustain a heavy use anymore after 6 years, so I decided to change it for just 60€ with the official assistance of Xiaomi; before service, I erased all stuff with a factory reset and used my wife’s Samsung (with Android 12) for a week. When I got back my Xiaomi I tried to install everything, but the Play Store told me that I could not install the current version of 1Password. So I thought about installing a previous version with the technique go to my account/manage apps&devices/select “not installed”. But I could ONLY install 1Password 7 as a previous version. The “uninstalled” 1Password 8 is incompatible with my phone (obviously).
Nothing would have changed if I had NOT erased my phone AND/OR if I had NOT used my wife’s phone, I know. Ironically, while my Xiaomi was in service, I received the invoice for my 1Password account renewal… I also tried to find an APK of a previous version from sites as “UpToDown” but it failed to install. So it seems that now I have to drop my phone, with the new battery inside, and buy a new one.
Unless someone has some possible solutions to share with me.
Thanks in advance.
Simone
