This problem still exists.

  1. Don't people often keep 1Password password and key in 1Password itself as an entry? I have done so for almost a decade. I remember reading about the risks years ago and I thought it was nil to do so.
  2. Is it normal I can use 1Password in iOS to unlock 1Password that is locked? This seems nuts.

What you’re describing isn't what we'd typically expect. 1Password needs to be unlocked before it can fill a login. You can read more about that here: About Autofill security in 1Password for iOS

With that in mind, I’d like to confirm exactly where the suggestion you’re seeing is coming from. Is there any chance the suggestion appearing above your keyboard is from somewhere other than 1Password? For example, do you have any other AutoFill providers enabled on your device?

It would also be worth checking your Apple Passwords app to see if you have an entry saved there for 1Password.
