Issue with 1Password Browser Extension Not Searching Note Fields
Hi,
I’m experiencing an issue with the 1Password browser extension (and also in 1Password Web) in Chrome where it’s not able to search within the notes field of stored items, such as passwords. However, searching notes works just fine in the 1Password desktop app.
This seems like a big oversight in functionality, especially when needing quick access to detailed information saved in notes. I suspect I may have missed a configuration step, but I’m not sure what to check or change.
Could anyone provide guidance or insight into why this might be happening and whether there’s a workaround to enable note searching in the browser extension?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, alexlyteai. Thank you for reaching out.
The search functionality in the 1Password browser extension and web app operates differently than in the desktop app, as it doesn't include the notes fields from its search results. I've submitted a feature request to our product team on your behalf to enhance the consistency of search capabilities across all platforms in future updates.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

I also think that the Search feature should extend to read the contents of each feld, not just the field header. I have been putting descriptors in the Notes field as sometimes the Entry header will be a website name or function ( I know this can be modified, but I don't want it to be so long that I can't easily read it in Search). For example, my doctor's practice name may have an outside website for billing or scheduling. Nice to know that when searching. But also, the actual doctor names and practice name tied to that website (which I now put into the Notes field) woud be helpful as sometimes I don't remember the outside website, but I do remember the doctor's name. I'm not a programmer and I don't know the difficulty in doing this, but the product would be much better if "Search", really meant "Search" of everything.

I just ran into this as well. Any updates/feedback from the product team on this?

+1 on the need for comprehensive search functionality in browser extension! It searches the title, but not the text within the entry (Login, Note, etc.).

I noticed the same problem today, using 1password app on Windows v8.10.58 and chrome extension v8.10.56. And this is not only for the notes field of login items, but also for "secure notes".
When searching from the top search bar, if I use the app it finds matches within secure notes; while with the extension it doesn't. This is pretty confusing!
Ok maybe even secure notes use the same "notes" field, just with the field name not shown in the UI. - 1P_Evon
