Linux Arm packaging

In a previous thread from probably 2 years ago, it was mentioned that you all had some trouble with getting a toolchain to setup to create packages for 1Password on Linux running on Arm processors (in my case, I care about Armv8).

Any updates on the status of getting this toolchain setup, so that users can pull packages from proper repositories for their specific variant of Linux (.deb, .rpm, etc)?

Yes, I know we can pull bits out of git, but it would be nice to have updates properly automated. Not to have to notice there's a new build every time you instantiate 1Password.

Adding, not trying to be a whiny jerk about it. Is there anything I can do to help?

What about the missing after-install.sh and after-remove.sh from the extracted tar for arm linux?

Any updates on this? I've been trying to install 1Password in a Fedora VM on an ARM Mac and in Asahi Linux directly. It's pretty annoying that the RPM repo only has x86 builds. The ARM tarballs work fine, so I wonder why the repo packages are missing?

Thank you for the feedback! While I don't have any news to share at the moment, I've let the team know that you'd like to see package manager support for ARM versions of 1Password for Linux.

Can we get actual support for delivering 1Password releases using proper repositories and native package archive types recognized by the package managers on arm64 variants of Linux distributions? At least the big ones: Ubuntu [deb], Fedora/Redhat/SUSE [rpm]

It's been ages since support for running 1password on arm64 Linux was delivered. Initially, in the forums 1Password staff said these releases weren't hosted in proper repositories and packaged because of toolchain issues with packaging up releases. Understandable initially, but approaching inexcusable at this point. It's tedious and annoying to have to do the manual downloads and installs of update gzips release after release.

The arm64 version of the app doesn't even notify users that a new release is available, to trigger them to go through the manual tedium to stay up to date. Which seems at odds with 1Password's otherwise strong commitment to keeping users up to date and secure.

      Hello mikesilva! 👋

Thank you for the feedback and I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.  While I don't have any updates to share about efforts in this area at the moment, this is something that our team continues to discuss internally and hopefully we will be able to add it to the product release roadmap in the future.

Following up on this request. ARM based endpoints will only rise in adoption while traditional x86/x64 are falling off.

It would be great to see some real support from 1P on this.

    Hi mikesilva,

We currently do not have any plans to change the current implementation of our ARM package.

However, I'll go ahead and pass along this feedback to the team. 🙂
